Every post deserves an ask — just not always the same one

Ending a post with nothing is like ending a conversation by walking off mid-sentence. The fix isn't to sell harder; it's to always tell people what to do next.

Plenty of good posts end in dead air. The idea lands, the reader nods, and then nothing — no next step, no question, no door to walk through. That silence is a wasted moment of attention you worked hard to earn.

A call to action is not begging. It is finishing the thought. You brought someone to the edge of interest; the ask simply tells them where the edge leads.

Soft asks and hard asks

Not every ask is "buy now," and if it were, people would tune you out fast. Most of your asks should be soft — small, free, low-risk moves that deepen the relationship. The occasional hard ask, when it comes, then lands with weight.

  • Soft: "Save this," "tell me your version," "which one are you?"
  • Medium: "Follow for the next part," "grab the free checklist."
  • Hard: "Book a call," "the doors are open, here's the link."

One ask, not three

The temptation is to stack them — like, comment, share, save, click, and buy. A crowded ask is the same as no ask, because a reader given six choices usually makes none.

Pick the single most useful next step for that specific post and cut the rest. Clarity converts; a menu does not.

Make the click land somewhere real

A hard ask only works if the destination is ready. Send someone to a cluttered profile and the intent you built evaporates before they find what you meant.

Point your asks at one clean link that always leads somewhere useful. You can set that up free at onesol.io, so "here's the link" never sends anyone on a scavenger hunt.
