A client tells you they paid. Your Payoneer balance hasn't moved. The payment is sitting in 'Future transactions', or your request still says 'Request pending', or you withdrew to your bank three days ago and the bank shows nothing.
The short answer: Payoneer is a regulated service, and it says plainly that incoming payments are subject to its approval before they reach your balance. So a pending payment is usually either still on its way from the payer's bank, or waiting on something from you or the payer: a document, a confirmation, or a name that matches. A withdrawal that hasn't arrived is a separate problem with its own checks. Work out which one you have first.
First, find where the money is stuck
Open the 'Transactions' page in your Payoneer account. Payoneer's receiving accounts FAQ says the 'Future transactions' table lists pending payments that have not yet affected your balance, and the 'All transactions' table lists the ones that have. Then match what you see to one of these:
- The payer says they sent it, but nothing appears at all: the money probably hasn't reached Payoneer yet. See cause 1.
- The payment shows in 'Future transactions' but not in your balance: Payoneer is holding it for review. Check the Verification Center first. See causes 2 and 3.
- The payment was declined or bounced back to the payer: often a name or account mismatch. See cause 4.
- Your balance went down after a withdrawal, but your bank shows nothing: see cause 5.
- Your newly added bank account isn't offered as a withdrawal option yet: it is still being reviewed. Also cause 5.
Cause 1: The payment hasn't left the sender, or is still between banks
This is the one people forget. Payoneer's help says local bank transfers and wire transfers can take up to 3 business days to be processed and show in your account, and that Payoneer cannot see when the payer makes the transfer, because that happens at their bank. 'I sent it on Friday' from a client can mean it left their bank on Monday, or that it is still sitting in their accounts team's approval queue.
Business days matter here. Payoneer's help pages carry a notice whenever banks are closed for a holiday, saying transfers will be processed once business resumes.
- Payment to your receiving account details: if it hasn't arrived within 3 business days of being sent, Payoneer says to check that the sender meets its account guidelines and that nothing is waiting in the Verification Center. After 5 business days, contact support with the sender's company name, the date it was sent, the amount, the last 4 digits of your receiving account number in that currency and a screenshot. For USD transfers, also ask the sender for the 15-digit trace number.
- Payment from a company that pays through Payoneer (a marketplace or platform): check that the company is listed under the 'Paying companies' tab on your 'Companies you work with' page. If you are still waiting after 5 business days, ask the company to confirm it sent the money and for its partner ID and the payment ID, then send those to Payoneer with uncropped screenshots of your correspondence.
- A payment request your client paid by local bank transfer: Payoneer says these are not marked as paid automatically, because it can't track a payment made at the client's bank. The request can keep saying 'Request pending' even after the money arrives. Open the request and use 'Mark as paid' once you have it.
- A payment request paid another way: after the payment is reviewed and approved, Payoneer's estimates are 2 calendar days for a credit or debit card, 5 business days for ACH debit, 1 to 3 business days for a direct or local bank transfer, 2 calendar days for PayPal and 2 hours for a Payoneer balance.
Cause 2: Payoneer has asked you for documents
If the payment is visible but held, this is the first place to look. Payoneer's document verification FAQ says it may ask for documents to verify your identity, your bank details and your address. The request often arrives by email, which is easy to miss, but it always sits in the Verification Center. Payoneer's help says pending information requests must be completed before the payment can be delivered.
- Sign in, click the profile icon, select 'Settings' and then 'Verification Center'.
- Open the 'Required' tab. Anything listed there is what's holding you up.
- Choose the requirement, upload the document and click 'SUBMIT'. Make sure you see the message saying the upload succeeded.
- Photograph documents with all four corners showing, uncropped, in colour and without flash glare. Payoneer lists poor image quality, cropped or hidden information, the wrong document type, expired documents and password-protected files as reasons it rejects them.
- For proof of address, Payoneer accepts things like a utility bill or bank statement from the last 6 months for individuals. A visa or passport stamp is not accepted.
- Check the 'History' tab later. If a document was rejected, Payoneer emails you the reason and the request reappears under 'Required'.
Cause 3: The payment itself is under review, or the payer needs to act
Sometimes your account is fine and it is the specific payment that is being checked. Payoneer's payment request help says to look in three places when a payment is pending: your Verification Center, your own email, and the payer's email, because in some cases Payoneer needs information from the payer before it can approve the payment. Once the requested information is in, Payoneer says the review generally takes up to 4 business days.
For money sent to your receiving account details, Payoneer's FAQ adds rules that cause a payment to be declined rather than delayed. Only business transactions from business accounts are supported, and payments from personal bank accounts will be declined. Payments from a bank account in your own name are declined too, unless you are adding funds from your own bank, and the money must come from an account in the same currency as the receiving account. If your client is paying from a personal account, no amount of waiting will help; they need to pay a different way, such as a payment request.
Cause 4: The names don't match
Name mismatches show up on both sides of Payoneer, and both are easy to fix once you know.
- Incoming: Payoneer says payers must use the beneficiary name exactly as listed in your receiving account details. A payment under a name that isn't listed may be declined, or Payoneer may ask you for documents proving the name is connected to your business. If clients pay your trading name, add it under 'Additional beneficiary names' in your profile settings before they pay.
- To see what name a payment actually arrived under, open the transaction and check the 'Payer name (from bank)' field in the transaction details.
- Outgoing: for withdrawals, Payoneer's bank accounts FAQ says the account holder name must match the name on your Payoneer account. For a company account, it must match the company name. A bank account in someone else's name, even a relative's, doesn't meet that rule.
- Bank details can't be edited after you submit them. To correct them, add a new bank account with the right details and delete the old one.
Cause 5: Your withdrawal to bank hasn't arrived
Payoneer's withdraw to bank FAQ says that after you receive the withdrawal confirmation email, most withdrawals land the same day and some take up to 2 business days. The email, and the estimated deposit date in the transaction details, are the best guide for your bank. A scheduled withdrawal starts processing at about midnight on the date you chose and usually arrives within 1-2 business days after that.
Two things delay a withdrawal before it even leaves. A newly added bank account is usually reviewed within 3 business days, and only approved accounts appear in the 'To' field; Payoneer may ask for a bank statement or verify the account with small test deposits. And a scheduled withdrawal that can't be sent is cancelled, with an email giving the reason. Payoneer lists insufficient balance, going over the monthly limit and technical errors as the common ones.
If 5 business days have passed since the confirmation email:
- Go to 'Manage', then 'Your bank accounts', open the account you withdrew to and check every detail.
- Download the Confirmation of Transfer: open the withdrawal in your transactions, click the document icon and choose 'Get Confirmation'. It shows the bank details Payoneer has on file and helps your bank trace the transfer.
- If the details are correct, contact Payoneer with the withdrawal date, the amount and the Payment ID from your confirmation email.
- If the details are wrong, the bank will reject the transfer and Payoneer says the money returns to your balance within up to 14 business days, with an email when it does. Then add a corrected bank account and withdraw again.
How to stop it happening next time
Most of these holds are avoidable with a few habits that match Payoneer's own advice.
- Clear the Verification Center before you need the money. Check the 'Required' tab every time you get a large or new payment, and answer Payoneer emails the same day.
- Give clients your beneficiary name exactly as Payoneer lists it, and add every business name they might use under 'Additional beneficiary names'.
- Ask new clients to pay from a business account in the same currency as your receiving account, not a personal one.
- Add and verify your bank account well before your first withdrawal, since the review alone can take up to 3 business days.
- Keep the payer's company name, the date, the amount and any trace or payment ID for every payment. Payoneer support asks for exactly these when you report a missing one.
If your clients pay you directly
If you sell your own services and clients pay you directly, a OneSol page on the Pro plan can take card payments through your own Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay or Square account, so the money follows that provider's normal payout schedule.
