Your sales show up in Gumroad, payday comes and goes, and nothing lands in your bank. Most of the time the money is still sitting safely in your balance and one specific rule is holding it back. This guide walks through every reason Gumroad documents, in the order most likely to explain your missing payout, so you can find yours in a few minutes.
Every number and rule below comes from Gumroad’s own help center articles on getting paid, payout delays, the payouts dashboard, payout settings, chargebacks and suspensions. Payout rules vary by country, so where something depends on where you live, we say so.
Fast diagnosis: check these five things first
1. Is your balance at least the minimum? Gumroad’s standard minimum payout is $100 USD, and some countries have a higher local-currency minimum. Below that, nothing is sent and the balance simply rolls forward.
2. Are your sales at least 7 days old? On weekly, monthly and quarterly schedules, a sale has to sit in your balance for at least 7 days, and each payout only covers sales made through the previous Friday (UTC). Yesterday’s sale is not in this week’s payout.
3. Is it actually your payout day? Gumroad pays on different weekdays depending on your payout method and country (details below). A PayPal seller expecting money on Tuesday is looking on the wrong day.
4. Does your Payments Settings page show a warning? Open gumroad.com/settings/payments. Missing verification, a rejected bank account or an incomplete form all show up here and all stop payouts.
5. Does your Payouts page say “under review” or show a pause? Open gumroad.com/payouts. New accounts and flagged accounts are reviewed before the first payout, and your payout date only appears once that review is done.
Gumroad’s payout schedule and minimum, explained
Gumroad lets you choose a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly payout schedule, and you can pause or resume payouts. Daily payouts are limited to US users with eligible bank accounts who have already received at least 4 payouts. A daily payout covers sales through the previous day (UTC) and does not wait the 7 days.
The standard minimum payout is $100 USD. Gumroad’s bank payout table marks countries with a different threshold as “(min X)”. Countries listed with their own minimum include Albania, Chile, Colombia, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Uzbekistan, and the table also shows USD minimums for El Salvador and Panama. If you are outside the US, check your country’s row in Gumroad’s “Getting paid by Gumroad” article rather than assuming $100.
Payout days depend on how you are paid. Tuesday: bank accounts in countries not listed below, such as India, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Turkey. Wednesday: euro bank accounts plus Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Gibraltar, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Norway, Poland, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, the UAE and the UK. Thursday: US bank accounts and US debit cards. Friday: PayPal, and creators paid through their own connected Stripe account.
“Sent” is not the same as “arrived”. Gumroad says bank payouts can take 2 to 7 business days to process and can be delayed around bank holidays, while PayPal payouts usually arrive within 1 to 3 business days. So a Wednesday bank payout may not be visible in your account until the following week.
Eligible US creators can also use instant payouts: up to $10K, with a 3% fee, after at least one completed payout and 60 days of processing with Gumroad. Instant payouts skip the $100 minimum but must be $1 or more.
Which payout methods Gumroad supports in your country
In most countries, Gumroad pays by direct bank deposit in your local currency. In countries where bank payouts are not available, Gumroad pays to PayPal in US dollars. PayPal payouts have a 2% processing fee.
Gumroad does not pay out through Payoneer, Wise, checks, money orders or wire transfers. It also lists countries where it offers neither bank nor PayPal payouts, including Zambia, Syria, Russia and Iraq.
Two rules catch people out. First, Gumroad’s FAQ says you cannot switch from bank payouts to PayPal payouts. Second, changing your payout country clears your saved bank, name, date of birth, address and tax details, and unpaid amounts held on your old country’s connected account are forfeited. Gumroad shows the amount at risk and makes you type “I understand” before it goes through, and country changes are blocked while a payout is in progress. Do not change countries as a troubleshooting step.
If you connected your own PayPal account to checkout, those sales are paid into PayPal at the time of sale. On the Payouts page they appear in the payout table and are subtracted from your total, because they were already paid. That is why a payout can look smaller than your sales figure.
Why Gumroad puts payouts on hold
Risk review. Before Gumroad’s banking partners approve your account, Gumroad’s risk team checks that your sales are legitimate. A thin sales history, suspicious-looking sales, purchases of your own products, or products that are unclear can all extend the review. Gumroad says it cannot speed the review up, and that buying your own products to hurry it along can lead to suspension. Its help center describes account reviews as typically taking 1 to 3 weeks.
Verification or tax details missing. Payouts can be paused until identity or business verification is complete. For bank payouts, Stripe may ask for your legal name, date of birth, phone number, address, a government ID number, a photo ID, proof of address, and a business tax ID or registration if you sell as a business. US sellers provide an SSN or EIN, and the name and date of birth must match exactly. Use your full legal name, a physical address (PO boxes and military addresses are not accepted), and upload ID as color JPEG or PNG files rather than PDFs.
Bank or PayPal rejected. Your payment partner can reject a bank account because of the account holder name, a format mismatch, an unrecognized bank or branch, or an account type it will not accept. PayPal payouts fail if PayPal cannot receive payments in your country or cannot receive US dollars.
Chargebacks. Payouts pause automatically when your chargeback rate goes above 1% of your sales volume. The rate is measured across all your non-refunded sales, not a recent window, and Gumroad rechecks daily, lifting the pause once you are back at or under 1%. Disputes you win stop counting against you.
Security, compliance or unusual activity. Gumroad may skip or pause payouts for security reviews, compliance problems, payout-settings issues or unusual activity. Sellers under 18 also need a parent or guardian added before payouts can start, which is currently only available to US sellers.
Where to check your payout status on Gumroad
Payouts page (gumroad.com/payouts). Gumroad calls this the payouts dashboard. Each payout lists the sale date range, total sales, deductions and net amount, and you can export paid payouts as a CSV that is emailed to you. If your account is under review, this is where your payout date appears once the review is complete. Note that this page uses UTC while the rest of your dashboard uses your account time zone, so totals for the same period can differ slightly.
Payments Settings (gumroad.com/settings/payments). This is where you complete or fix payout details, verification documents and tax IDs. Gumroad’s payout delays article names this page and the Payouts page as the two places that show outstanding issues.
Look for credits and withdrawals too. One-off credits, such as a recovered chargeback amount or a VAT refund adjustment, can be positive or negative and are folded into your payouts. If refunds or chargebacks push your balance negative, the payment processor may debit your bank account, and a successful withdrawal is added back to your balance as a credit.
If your account is suspended
A suspension is different from a delay. Gumroad lists the main causes as Terms of Service violations, high-risk or fraudulent sales, high chargeback amounts, and Stripe or PayPal rejecting the account. Gumroad generally does not email suspension notices, so check your dashboard.
What happens to your balance depends on the cause. After a chargeback-rate suspension, the balance is held to cover further chargebacks, which Gumroad estimates usually lasts 30 to 45 days, not a guaranteed date. Fraudulent sales are not paid out. If Stripe gives a final rejection, a balance of $1 or more is paid automatically on the next scheduled payout even below the $100 minimum, unless Stripe has disabled payouts and is holding the funds. A Stripe final rejection cannot be appealed. If PayPal will not allow the payment, Gumroad says it has no way to send the money and suggests refunding sales so customers can pay you another way.
For most other suspensions you can appeal by emailing support@gumroad.com. Gumroad does not publish an appeal timeline.
What to do right now, step by step
Step 1: Open gumroad.com/payouts and confirm your balance, the date range of the next payout, and whether a review or pause is shown.
Step 2: Open gumroad.com/settings/payments and clear every warning. Re-check that your legal name, date of birth and address match your ID and bank account exactly.
Step 3: Compare today’s date with your payout day for your method and country, then add the 2 to 7 business days a bank needs (or 1 to 3 for PayPal) before treating the money as missing.
Step 4: If you are in risk review, keep selling normally. Gumroad suggests waiting until you have 2 to 3 more sales, then emailing support. Never buy your own products to speed things up.
Step 5: If a dispute is involved, answer it. Gumroad gives you 72 hours to submit evidence from the dispute email (120 hours if UTC weekend days fall in that window). For Stripe Connect or PayPal Connect sales, you contest it in your own Stripe or PayPal account.
Step 6: If nothing above explains it, email support@gumroad.com with your account email, the payout date you expected, and a screenshot of your Payouts page. Remember that skipped payouts are not lost: Gumroad keeps the earnings in your balance and pays them on the first payout day you meet every requirement.
Want to skip the platform payout step entirely?
Gumroad’s model is that buyers pay Gumroad, Gumroad holds your balance, and then it pays you on its schedule. That is why minimums, holding periods and payout days exist at all.
OneSol works differently. You connect your own Stripe or PayPal account, so buyer payments go straight into that account and settle on Stripe’s or PayPal’s schedule. There is no separate OneSol balance and no OneSol payout to wait for, and OneSol takes no cut of your sales (the free plan stays free, and Pro is $9 a month). To be clear, Stripe and PayPal still have their own verification checks, payout timing and dispute rules, so you are not escaping payment-processor rules, just removing one layer between your buyer and your bank.
