Analytics tools compete on how many numbers they can show you, which is the wrong contest. More metrics don't make you wiser; they give you more ways to feel busy while missing the one that matters.
For most creators, three numbers carry almost all the signal. Watch these and you can ignore the rest without guilt.
The three
- Visitors — how many people reached your page. This is your reach doing its job, or not.
- Conversion — what share of them did the thing you wanted. This is your page doing its job.
- Revenue per visitor — the two multiplied. It's the single number that tells you whether a change actually helped.
Change one thing at a time
The reason to keep it to three is so cause and effect stay legible. Change your headline, watch conversion. Change your price, watch revenue per visitor. When you track everything, you can't tell what caused what — and a number you can't act on is just anxiety with a chart.
